Spice Drawer Organization!

Spice Drawer Organization!

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this new year.  As part of my goals for 2016, my mission to organize our home and keep it clutter free continues.  Today I wanted to share with you guys my most recent organization project, so let's go to my kitchen.

Here is the problem area I decided to tackle this week - our spice drawer.  I really like having our spices in this drawer as opposed to the cabinet above, but as you can see, it's far from organized and it's not pleasing to the eye.  An area that bothered me to no end, but I wanted this project to be as economical as possible.

I searched for spice jars online and was pretty close to buying some on Amazon, but last week I spotted these at Target and didn't even hesitate to buy three sets.  Target's Dollar Spot to the rescue once again.

I contemplated buying labels but I didn't realize how expensive they can get.  Since I wanted to keep the cost down, I decided to go to my trusted source for printables (hello, Pinterest!) and create my own.  These are super cute and customizable as well, win-win.

I knew I had to protect them somehow and luckily I had one self-seal laminating sheet left. These are one sided and were perfect for this project.  Here's a quick tip - if you don't have self-laminating sheets, you can use clear packing tape and it works just as well.  I used clear tape on two of the jars and you can't even tell the difference.

I then proceeded to cut my labels.

Here is my first completed jar.

And here is what they all look like in the drawer, see how amazing they look!  I am so happy with how this project turned out.  I will keep an eye out for a better adhesive though because my double sided tape is not working as well as I thought.  Labels are in place but the sides do lift a little bit...nothing major though.

I decided to line the drawer to prevent the jars from moving every time I opened it.  The one I found was only $1.99 and has been working out so well, plus the color is a very pretty soft gray.

I hope you guys found this post helpful and maybe it gave you some ideas on how to spice up your cabinet/spice drawer.  This was a relatively easy and fairly inexpensive project.  Check out your Target Dollar Spot section for these jars if you are interested in recreating this project, 5 jars for $3 is a pretty good deal.

Thank you for reading!
